30 Years of Leaders Roofing: A Letter from Jan Koszyk, Founder of a Family-Owned Mount Prospect Roofing Contractor Since 1996
Three decades in one place. Same family. Same license. Same Mount Prospect address. Here's what changed, and what didn't.
Day one in 1996
I had a truck, an Illinois Roofing License (#104.010248), and a single phone line in the Mount Prospect office. Thirty years later, the license is the same. The phone is still ringing in the same office. The address is the same. The customer who hired us in 1998 can still reach the same family business — same people, same standards.
What's changed
The work. Three-tab asphalt gave way to architectural shingles. Built-up roofing gave way to TPO. Cedar shake, slate, and copper came back as premium specifications on the North Shore. We've kept up with all of it.
What hasn't
The standard. Every roof gets the ventilation calculation. Every flashing detail gets the right metal. Every estimate is written so the homeowner sees exactly what's in scope before any work starts. None of that has moved in 30 years.
Thank you, Chicagoland
To the customers who hired us in 1996 and the ones who hired us last week — thank you. To the property managers we've worked with for fifteen and twenty years across multiple buildings — thank you. To everyone who referred a neighbor — thank you. Three decades happened because Chicagoland kept calling, and we kept showing up.
