Roofing Technician

Leaders Roofing is hiring Roofing Technicians to join our residential and commercial install crews across the Greater Chicago Area, with a focus on the North and Northwest suburbs and Lake County. This is a real opportunity to break into the roofing trade — we'll train you, and as you prove yourself and our pipeline grows, the path forward is clear: Technician → Roof Mechanic → Lead → Foreman.

Summary

Assist roofers and foremen in preparing job sites and installing roof systems including asphalt shingles, metal, TPO, EPDM, slate, cedar shake, and related materials. Cross-training in siding and gutters available. May operate hand and power tools of all types.

Essential Functions

Tear off existing roofing and clean debris from roofs and surrounding property
Load, unload, and transport materials, equipment, and rigging
Assist with installing underlayment and insulation
Assist with installing shingles, flat-roof membranes, metal panels, and flashing
Apply adhesives, caulking, sealants, and coatings
Cover exposed fasteners to prevent leaks and rust
Repair minor cracks, defects, and damage using proper materials
As skills increase, help train newer team members
Other duties as assigned by your foreman

Minimum Qualifications

18 years or older
Authorized to work in the United States
6+ months of construction or roofing experience preferred; prior roofing experience is a strong plus
High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
Self-motivated, open-minded, and able to take and apply constructive feedback
Reliable transportation to job sites across the North/NW suburbs and Lake County
Available to work weekdays with flexible hours; hours fluctuate week to week
English, Spanish, or Polish speaking required; bilingual English/Spanish or English/Polish is a strong plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of basic jobsite safety techniques
Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
Ability to read and use a tape measure and mark/record distances
Ability to climb ladders, stairways, and scaffolding
Interpersonal skills to work effectively on a crew
Ability to identify problems and communicate them to your foreman
Basic understanding of construction tools and materials, or willingness to learn fast

Physical Demands

Standing, walking, climbing, and working on roofs for full shifts
Considerable use of arms and legs — climbing, lifting, balancing, handling materials
Repetitive bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and stooping
Lifting and carrying 50+ lbs regularly
Seeing details at close range
